WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE ME TO SAY TO YOU

A large plush pillow with a satin lined pocket containing a set of headphones, a voice recorder and instructions. Specifically made in response to the brief for NTWRK. The cinema at EXHIBIT in Balham has settees for couples, I wanted to provide for those who went alone, to have a cuddle, to hear a message and to leave a message for the next user. The instructional short video was played in between screenings.

The Japanese Otaku marry pillows with their favourite anime characters and a group called Objectum Sexuals are erotically in love with objects  such as metal signs, fences, walls or theEiffel Tower. This work continued my research into the need for a sensuous relationship with an object. The Hug Machine and the Hug Pillow evolved and later the (S)mother

Jacket.

THE HUG MACHINE

Professional Development

Anchor 1

FLAC group are alumni of Wimbledon MFA, my proposal was accepted for this group exhibition about the way people network in Balham. The exhibition was curated throughout a large three storey building with bars, restaurants and a cinema. It wasnt invigilated and the Hug Machine was so popular it was hugged to destruction (not having been initially designed for heavy usage) I adapted the Hug Machine and provided photographs to replace and record the installation. The recorded responses to What Would You Like Me To Say To You were displayed at the Closing Event, where I sold one of the Hug Pillows. Being clear about where my practice is now and articulating that in proposals and at networking events has developed.
